The SpaceX Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, received bomb threats on Friday, leading to an FBI investigation. Multiple callers threatened to blow up the Starship rocket at the facility. The FBI's San Antonio office is looking into the "possible bomb threats," according to a local news report.

The SpaceX facility in Brownsville, Texas, received a bomb threat on Friday, prompting an FBI investigation. The Starbase, located in Boca Chica in Brownsville, is a launching base for Elon Musk's space technology company.

According to the San Antonio Express, several calls were received threatening to blow up the Starship rocket at the SpaceX facility. The FBI's San Antonio office is investigating the "possible bomb threats" at the Boca Chica Starbase. However, the FBI has not yet confirmed if the threat was real or a hoax.

A witness near the Starbase claimed to have overheard discussions about threats received on December 24, 2024. The San Antonio Express released a statement asking people to be mindful of suspicious behavior in the area.

"While we are working to carefully vet and investigate the information we have received, we want to reiterate that the safety and security of the American people is the FBI’s highest concern," the statement read.

This marks at least the second reported bomb threat against Starbase in recent weeks. On Dec. 27, 2023, a bomb threat was reportedly made to SpaceX from a nonemergency Brownsville Police Department phone line, a sheriff’s deputy reported. The caller allegedly stated, “the bomb was on a rocket, and then advised it was on a spaceship.” That incident was referred to the FBI for further investigation.
