Killeen Mall Shooting: 5 injured as suspect crashes into Mall and is shot dead
A vehicle crash inside a Texas mall during a police chase led to a mass casualty event with multiple shots fired.
Killeen Mall, located 80 miles north of Austin, went into lockdown after a black pickup truck drove into shoppers on Saturday evening, injuring at least five people.
An incident was reported at Killeen Mall by the Killen Police Department Saturday evening around 6 p.m. Officials stated that there was not an active shooter at the mall and that police were investigating the scene. |
The incident began when a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper tried to stop the vehicle, suspecting the driver was intoxicated. This led to a 19-mile police chase, explained Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko during a press conference outside the mall.
